These events are a place to hear experienced resource (foster) parents share about the joys and heartbreaks of foster care in a no-pressure environment.
Events vary from in person social or virtual panel discussions via Zoom led by Every Child staff. The panel will include a mix of current resource (foster) families and ODHS Child Welfare Certifier. The panel is present to offer their perspectives and answer any questions you may have.
Who should attend? This the perfect next step for those interested in learning more about the foster care journey, as well as those that have already started their certification training.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Event generally runs 90 min
Time set aside to meet and mingle with other prospective foster (resource) parents in your community and hear first-hand from foster parents with lived experience.
Brief overview of foster care and then facilitated panel discussion with local foster parents.
Representative from Oregon’s Department of Human services will also be available to share about the certification process, requirements, and resources available to support you once you become certified.
