What is Certified Respite Care?

Respite care is a service where a temporary caregiver takes over the responsibilities of the primary caregiver, giving them a break. It can be arranged in advance or in times of crisis and is important for families with children, as it allows caregivers to rest and avoid feeling overwhelmed.

In Oregon, the Certified Respite Care Program, run by the Department of Human Services Foster Care Program, helps to train and certify respite providers for both foster children and those who remain with their families.

Every Child mobilizes community to uplift children & families impacted by foster care in Oregon.
