A Year of Impact: How Every Child Oregon Came Together for Kids in Foster Care in 2024

Every Child Oregon

A Year of Impact

As the year draws to a close, we’re reflecting on what’s been possible in 2024 because of people like you—our community of supporters, volunteers, and local partners. Every Child Oregon’s mission to support children and families impacted by foster care has always been a team effort, and this year, that team has stepped up in ways that inspire and humble us.

Here’s what we’ve accomplished together.

Our Every Child Oregon family includes a network of dedicated affiliates across the state, many with personal ties to foster care. Whether it’s lived experience or a deep-rooted passion for helping children in crisis, these local partners and affiliates have a unique commitment to showing up for Oregon’s kids.

In 2024, with their support and yours, we’ve seen:

Our partners and volunteers don’t just “do their jobs”—they build community, offer encouragement, and remind children and families they are valued and seen.

Our My NeighbOR program is a lifeline for families in foster care, connecting them with caring community members to provide the things they need most.

Thanks to your support, My NeighbOR has had an incredible year:

  • 3,296 needs were met for families in foster care, ensuring that children and families had access to essentials, from warm winter coats and holiday meals.
  • 1,153 children and families felt the love and security that come from having community who cares!

Through My NeighbOR, every single item given—a coat, a gift card, a new bunk bed—is a tangible reminder that these families aren’t alone. You, our supporters, are right here with them.

Being a resource (foster) parent can be incredibly rewarding, but it also brings unique challenges. This year, our mentorship programs and Foster Parents’ Night Out (FPNO) events offered families in foster care the support they needed to keep going.

In 2024, we:

  • Matched 86 resource (foster) parents with experienced mentors through our Peer Mentorship program, providing guidance and encouragement as they navigated the journey of foster care.
  • Hosted 18 Foster Parents’ Night Out events, giving foster families a night off, knowing their kids were in the safe and loving care of dedicated volunteers.

These initiatives go beyond providing a helping hand—they offer community, reassurance, and the chance to recharge, helping resource (foster) families feel seen, supported, and appreciated.

Giving Tuesday is just around the corner, and it’s an amazing chance to make a meaningful difference. Not everyone can open their home, but every one of us can help make foster care a little easier and a lot brighter for these families. With your Giving Tuesday gift, we can recruit more foster (resource) families, meet the immediate needs of kids in foster care, and keep building a caring community around them.

This Giving Tuesday, will you stand with us to make Oregon
a better place for every child?

Whether it’s through a donation, volunteering, or even exploring the journey of foster care yourself, you are an essential part of this movement. Thank you for being here with us, for these families, and for Oregon’s kids. With you by our side, we’re bringing hope, joy, and love to children who need it most.
