What is the Peer Mentorship Program?
Every Child’s Peer Mentorship program is a 12-week, one to one relational pairing between an
experienced Resource Parent (Mentor) and a newer Resource Parent (Mentee).
Peer Mentorship offers a unique space for supportive conversations while facilitating guided discussions through a book and discussion packet that is mailed to the participants. Once paired, the Mentor and Mentee will decide if they want to talk via phone or meet virtually for their weekly connection. Mentors and Mentees who complete the Peer Mentorship program will receive 15 hours of continuing education credit toward the required 30 hours every two years.
Be a Mentor
If you have been a Resource Parent with ODHS for at least
2 years and have a willingness to walk alongside a newer
Resource Parent, please complete the application!
Be a Mentee
If you have received your first placement in the last two years
and would like to connect with an experienced Resource
Parent to discuss the weekly questions as well as engage in
open conversation, please complete the application!
Please note: We will be accepting applications year round, but our cohort-style groups are launched twice a year.
(We do mentor matching in January and February and August and September).

From Our Community
“I think it’s really valuable to hear straight from the source of someone who has lived experience with foster care. It is not a commonly shared experience in the general population, so being actively paired with someone was helpful.”
PEER MENTEE
“Thanks to all for their time in
organizing this mentoring program. It
was obvious the Every Child team care
deeply about fostering, resource
parents, and providing information that
will help new resource parents navigate a complex system.”
PEER MENTEE
“I had fun. It was informative and it was
great being able to talk to someone who really understands and doesn’t judge.”
PEER MENTEE
“It is nice to know you are not alone”
