EVERY CHILD AND DHS UNITE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES OF DOUGLAS COUNTY

EVERY CHILD AND DHS UNITE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THE CHILDREN AND
FAMILIES OF DOUGLAS COUNTY

ROSEBURG, OR., Right now, over 400 Douglas County Oregon children spent at least one day in foster care, and our community lacks the needed number of foster homes to ensure children are placed with the most strategic family for their safety and well-being. However, in the midst of our current shortage of foster homes, there is fresh reason for hope and celebration.

With the goal of mobilizing an unprecedented number of foster families in Douglas County, Every Child in partnership with the Department of Human Services (DHS), is proud to launch ECHO Every Child in Douglas County. ECHO Every Child is a public/private community effort to encourage community members to love, care for, and support vulnerable children and families in partnership with DHS.

Every Child first launched in Jackson, Josephine and Lane County in mid-2016 and Marion, Polk and Yamhill County in 2017.

We are now celebrating expansion to Douglas County with the goal of expanding to the rest of the Oregon counties in the next three years. Please join us for our launch event in Roseburg.

Thursday, November 7, 2019, 5 pm to 7 pm
Douglas County Child Welfare Office
738 West Harvard, OR 97471

ECHO Every Child staff, foster parents and DHS leadership will be providing DHS staff, lawmakers and community members with information about this initiative, share success stories, goals and projected outcomes. We believe DHS is only as strong as the community that comes alongside it. Most Oregonians are not aware of DHS’ day-to-day efforts on behalf of children and families. We are confident more people of Douglas County will want to be a part of the solution and those of us with ECHO Every Child want to share the possibilities. Not everyone can become a foster parent, but we can all do something to care for our community’s children and families. ECHO Every Child needs you.
