DHS Child Welfare Program Manager Story
One of DHS’ Program Manager said that what immediately comes to their mind are the efforts they all make to keep kids out of temporary lodging. It’s a tremendous amount of work that impacts the staff across a number of program areas:
• management team
• certifiers
• protective service workers
• permanency workers
• case aides and now
• relative engagement specialists
And when temporary lodging is unavoidable, we move into a whole new body of work that is almost equally time-consuming and taxing. We do an exceptional job keeping kids out of temporary lodging, and when it becomes unavoidable, our staff always rises to the occasion and finds ways to give even more of themselves after hours and on weekends, taking care of children in our custody.
