Children and families impacted by foster care are part of our community—and they deserve to be surrounded by care, stability, and belonging.

In Douglas County, many children enter foster care during moments of crisis. They may experience multiple placements, separation from siblings, and long waits while a safe home is identified. At the same time, resource (foster) families and frontline child welfare workers carry an immense responsibility, often without enough support.

Every Child Douglas County exists to change that.

We mobilize everyday people—individuals, families, churches, businesses, and community groups—to come alongside children, caregivers, and child welfare staff with practical support and genuine compassion. Whether someone feels called to foster, provide respite, donate resources, or serve in simple but meaningful ways, there is a place for everyone to be part of the solution.

How We Support Our Community

Our work focuses on meeting real, immediate needs with dignity and care by:

• Raising up new resource (foster) families, we constantly share the need and offer mentorship and support to those opening their hearts and homes to children in care.
• Providing respite and encouragement for resource families, helping them rest and sustain long-term caregiving by providing a date night through Foster Parents’ Night Out or Freezer Meals for Families.
• Fulfilling tangible support for children entering foster care, offering comfort and reducing stress through our My Neighbor program.
• Offering practical assistance for youth transitioning to independence
• Expressing appreciation through hospitality for ODHS and Tribal Social Services staff, recognizing the vital work they do for children and families.

Each initiative is designed to reduce stress, strengthen placements, and remind children and caregivers that they are not alone.
